Network Share access denial is another\u00a0issue that users\u00a0are facing with Windows 10<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Recent upgrade to Windows 10<\/a> all of a sudden makes network share no longer accessible on Windows machines you may have in your environment.<\/p>\n

Here is the tutorial that solves the issue.<\/span><\/p>\n

Problem<\/h2>\n

This is what you see when you try to go to any \\\\something network share:<\/p>\n

\n

\\\\something is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The account is not authorized to log in from this station.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\"open<\/p>\n

There’s some changes in the Windows 10 internals which results in the access denial.\u00a0The new build does not allow anonymous (guest) access to shares by default, as a security measure.It can be resolved\u00a0by creating a new registry key in the right hive and rebooting.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/h2>\n

Fire up the registry editor (regedit). Navigate to:<\/p>\n

\"Registry<\/p>\n

Here, you will need to create a new parameter (32-bit DWORD). Right-click:<\/p>\n

\"Parameter\"<\/p>\n

Then, name it AllowInsecureGuestAuth<\/span> and assign it a value of 1.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"DWORD\"<\/p>\n

The hive should look thusly:<\/p>\n

\"Registry<\/a><\/p>\n

And you’re done. Reboot, and enjoy<\/span> your network access.<\/p>\n
