PPTP VPN Blocks Internet Connection on Windows 10<\/p>\n

After setting up a PPTP VPN from new Windows 10 computer our team\u00a0couldn\u2019t get internet access.<\/p>\n

So we\u00a0tested to make sure it wasn\u2019t just DNS playing up and pinged 8.8.8.8 but no good.<\/p>\n

\"DNS<\/p>\n

So we\u00a0tested pinging my default gateway and that worked, so then we\u00a0tested pinging the default gateway of the remote network that we\u00a0were connected to via the VPN and that also worked.<\/p>\n

So we\u00a0figured it must have something to do with Windows 10 not allowing split tunnels by default.<\/p>\n

Configure Split Tunnel In Windows 10 PPTP VPN<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

You must be connected to the PPTP VPN for the network settings below to be available, if you are not connected to the VPN from Windows 10 then the network settings will not work.
\n<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

Go to network and sharing center, you can get here by right clicking the network icon on the taskbar and selecting \u201cOpen Network and Sharing center\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Network<\/p>\n

Select<\/span> \u201cChange adapter settings\u201d<\/p>\n

Right click<\/span> on the PPTP VPN connection and select properties<\/p>\n

Select<\/span> \u201cNetworking\u201d on the top menu<\/p>\n

Select<\/span> \u201cInternet Protocol Version 4(IPv4)\u201d and click the \u201cProperties\u201d button<\/p>\n

Another window will open, in this windows select \u201cAdvanced\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Tick the box<\/span> that says \u201cUse default gateway on remote network\u201d and hit \u201cOK\u201d<\/p>\n

\"IPNow you will be able to browse the internet through the VPN on Windows 10.<\/p>\n

Found a solution using Powershell (Run as administrator):<\/h3>\n

Get-VpnConnection<\/span>
\nThat will get you the name, and other info, of the vpn<\/p>\n

then run<\/span><\/p>\n

Set-VpnConnection -Name MY_VPN_NAME -SplitTunneling $true<\/p>\n

replace MY_VPN_NAME with the name of your vpn connection.<\/p>\n
